This
photo is literally seconds after the birth as I held Oscar in my arms
for the first time. The pain was forgotten as I spent the next few minutes
in rapture with my son.

I
orginally hadn't wanted Steve to take video footage of the birth itself,
but if he hadn't we wouldn't have this beautiful shot. Thank you Steve
for being so brave!

Being
born into the water, Oscar took a little while to take his first breath
but he soon exercised his lungs as well as his waterworks!

This
was our very lovely midwife Sharon. Although this was her first waterbirth
she was very kind and reassuring and gave me a lot of encouragement.
So a very big Thank you to Sharon!

This
was our other midwife Anne who was very experienced. She made me feel
very safe, confident and more comfortable by splashing water over my
back. So again, a very big Thank you to Anne!

After
the birth I lost a lot of blood and needed medical attention. This took
4 hours in the recovery room but Oscar just laid there as good as gold
the whole time looking around at his new world!
